Name and job title: Adam Young, Head of Transport and Logistics, Partner
Company: MHA MacIntyre Hudson
Your business: How many people do you employ in Northamptonshire and, in a few words, can you tell us what your company does?
We are a national firm of chartered accountants, tax and business advisers, and we partner with entrepreneurs and successful businesses.
From offices across the country, we provide a full range of financial, tax and business strategy services to businesses in the UK and abroad, helping them to achieve growth and success for the long term.
With understanding and inspiration, we help businesses achieve goals, and help individuals create and preserve wealth for future generations.
Why have you chosen to be headline sponsor and what aligns your business to the Northamptonshire Logistics Awards and the sector as a whole?
Logistics is one of our Northampton office’s core sectors and we have many clients within it, so it was a perfect fit for us to support and invest time and money in.
What major challenges do you think the logistics sector/ your sector faces?
Attracting and retaining good staff.
Attracting and retaining profitable work and getting paid for it.
Specific to the logistics sector I think managing growth or contraction in business levels with such a large overhead base and typically large level of debt involved.
And how will your company tackle these challenges/ help your clients to tackle these challenges?
We like to work closely with our clients throughout the year, giving advice in a broad area. We like to be part of their senior management team.
Can you share an unknown fact about your company?
We have been in business for 140 years now which is impressive.
We want to encourage as many businesses in the logistics sector to enter these awards – what words of encouragement can you share with us? Why do you think these awards are so important?
It is fundamental to the growth and profile of the sector that local businesses work together and show visible support to help promote and drive development opportunities within it.
Without showcasing the sector and celebrating the talent, innovation and opportunities within it, the next generation of employees will not be inspired to choose it as a career option.
Be proud of your business and its employees achievements and put your firm forward for an award.
What advice or words of wisdom do you have for a successful career and business?
Look after your clients really well, work hard every day and employ the best people you can get.
Ensure that you add value to your clients and ensure your services stay relevant to their needs.
When you aren’t working how do you unwind?
Spend time with family and friends, travel and support The Saints and England Rugby.
In three words what does Northamptonshire mean to you and your business?
