Your business: How many people do you employ in Northamptonshire and, in a few words, can you tell us what your company does?
We have a team of eight internally. As a recruitment company, we employ and find suitable jobs for hundreds of local people and place them into local businesses.
Kingsley Consulting was set up in 2016 with the view of doing things different and putting people at the heart of everything we do. This is demonstrated through some of the projects we are involved in such as, supporting the homeless back into work and aiding ex-offenders to gain the skills and knowledge to get work-ready. Furthermore, Kingsley Consulting has signed the Armed Forces covenant, holding the Bronze award, which recognises that we support reservists, service leavers and ex- military personnel, by helping them to gain employment. We are also a disability confident employer too and carry out work in the Diversity and Inclusion space.
Why have you chosen this particular category to sponsor and what aligns your business to the Northamptonshire Logistics Awards?
Kingsley Consulting have growth plans for the future and we would like to show our support to those up and coming local businesses within a sector.
What major challenges do you think the logistics sector/ your sector faces?
There is a shortage in skills and this is due to lack of knowledge about the logistics sector. It is not every child’s dream to enter the logistics industry from school – this must change.
And how will your company tackle these challenges?
Kingsley Consulting supports SEMLEP and I am an Enterprise Advisor. This allows us to go into schools and promote the logistics sector as a career rather than a ‘dead-end job’. Having signed the Forces Covenant and working closely with the armed forces, also allows us to work in partnership with service leavers, which helps the transition from the military to ‘Civvy Street’. In addition, Kingsley Consulting works closely with local organisations in supporting those from a disadvantaged backgrounds to gain the skills required to enter the world of logistics – this includes the provision of training and support, FLT licenses and offering warehouse experience.
Can you share an unknown fact about your company?
Our investor runs a £30million pound group of roofing businesses, and within this group there are also two charitable businesses. One of the charities repairs bicycles and resells them back at a reduced price, providing employment for some previously unemployed individuals. The other is a local charity shop which also sends furniture overseas to those in need.
What country, other than the UK, is your business most closely aligned to?
We have a client in Switzerland that we work with as well as other clients across Europe.
We want to encourage as many businesses in the logistics sector to enter these awards – what words of encouragement can you share with us? Why do you think these awards are so important?
The Logistics sector is the heart of Northamptonshire and is in the middle of massive growth plans, which is why the industry needs to come together to promote the same aims and goals, raise awareness of what we do as businesses and celebrate our successes.
What better way to do this than at an awards ceremony where we get to meet other businesses in a non-competitive manor and talk about an industry that makes our world go around.
What advice or words of wisdom do you have for a successful career and business?
Spread the word.
Do not be afraid to shout and celebrate the opportunities within our sector. It is not glamorous, but it is diverse. It’s an industry filled with challenges, issues and frustration. It’s also an industry that will evolve, so let’s enjoy the ride.
